1st Cretan Music Workshop
4-6 August 2011
Musical Teaching Room will be held in Merona, Amarion, Rethymno on August 4, 5, 6, 2011, based on the new work of Dimitris Sgouros:
"Aims and Songs of Crete 1860-1910, from the archive of Pavlos Severus".
Folklore Pavlos Vlassos, 150 years ago, has, in a methodical and scientific way, recorded in 93 manuscript volumes the most precious folklore material from one side of Crete to the other.
The lyricist Dimitris Sgouros, studying these records, identified about 200 traditional songs.
After 4 years of study, she chose 48 songs, which were played and recorded so that anyone interested can approach them today. He believed that these would enrich the Cretan repertoire, and at the same time, they would be troubled, influenced and rewarded.
Teachers will teach:
Dimitris Sgouros Lyra - Tragoudi, Stelios Sikakis Mandolino - Boulgari and Dimitris Sideris Cretan Lute.
