Maria was born and raised in Crete. She studied Classical Greek Literature and is a graduate of Byzantine music. She was fascinated by music and lyrics from an early age, which led her to become involved with music and especially with singing.
She has been a member of the “Chainides” music band since 2000, as the lead singer in the discography ( studio recordings ) and live performances. She has participated in the discography, collaborations and joint appearances with well-known musicians and artists in Greece and abroad.
She has collaborated with George Koumentakis in the context of his opera, entitled "H Fonissa “(The Murderess) which was staged in 2014 at the Megaron Concert Hall in Athens. She has attended Bulgarian and Turkish song classes in the context of music seminars held by the "Labyrinth “ music workshop in the village of Houdetsi, Pediados in Heraklion Crete organized by the great musician and teacher Ross Daly where she participated in traditional and folk music groups from the wider Balkan region , ( Bulgaria and Turkey) and is also a founding member of the vocal ensemble "Sanades”.
She teaches and organizes traditional song workshops in Crete, Athens, Ikaria and elsewhere. She is basically a folk musician and singer, with a technique shaped both by the sounds she collected from the music of her homeland (Crete), and by her subsequent personal involvement with the music of different parts of the world, (she has made her record debut with metal music (Asphodel) in which she has participated both synthetically and lyrically ). She is currently completing her new personal recording work.
